Top 10 Electric Vehicle Registrations by State

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has data that ranks individual states’ electric vehicle registration counts. The numbers include only all-electric vehicles (EVs). Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) are not included in the statistics.

The Golden State ranks first in the country by a wide margin for most registered electric vehicles, with 425,300 as of June 2021, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Alternative Fuels Data Center. Florida is a distant second place with just over 58,000.

The data is sourced by NREL and listed at the Alternative Fuels Data Center, with additional data from Experian Information Solutions.
